Using Rotary Biological Contractor as waste management solution

As an exporter of fishery products, PT. Maju Bersama Karib has liquid and solid waste from processing. However, the company remains committed to maintaining and preserving the environment around the company from toxins or other negative impacts. Therefore, the company uses Rotary biological contactor (RBC) to treat waste. In other word, RBC’s sewage treatment system is intended to separate suspended solids from liquid waste. As well as deadly the presence of pathogenic bacteria in the final liquid waste to be disposed of. This sustainable waste management treatment effort is a form of maintaining the biodiversity of the surrounding environment by the company.

The Process of Rotary Biological Contractor

Broadly speaking, RBC waste treatment system has 2 main types namely primary waste treatment and secondary waste treatment. In the primary waste treatment process, RBC will filter sand and coarsely suspended materials followed by deposition of suspended solids. After that the secondary processing process has several stages. First, RBC will rotate with part of the body in the water and partly in the open area. This rotation will attach microorganisms from the water with biological film in the RBC section. Second, water waste enters the second phase for the deposition of suspended solids. Third, chlorine compounds to kill pathogenic bacteria. In the final stages of waste is free from the presence of pathogenic bacteria or suspended solids. after that, the waste can be discharged into the surrounding environment.
